Turmeric: One of Nature's Potent Healers + Golden Coconut Turmeric Mylk Latte Recipe

When it comes to inflammation-busting superfoods, little compares to the powerful effects of turmeric root! This brightly hued orange rhizome is in the same botanical family as ginger, and is most known for the robust, earthy flavor and pop of bright yellow it lends to traditional Indian and Thai curry dishes.

One of the most delicious and traditional ways to enjoy the healing benefits of this ancient Ayurvedic spice is in the form of a sweet and creamy, soul-nourishing and belly-warming Golden Coconut Turmeric Mylk Latte; it's such a treat and also makes a more medicinal way of satisfying a longing for a cup of hot chocolate or a coffee-based latte.

This special recipe contains a trifecta of sweet spices which help balance out the pungent flavor of turmeric- vanilla, nutmeg, and cinnamon- as well as electrolyte-rich coconut water, and our Dastony whole coconut butter, which rounds things out with a deliciously rich coconut milk flavor and plenty of healthy medium chain triglyceride fats to boost immunity and the metabolism.

The Recipe

Golden Coconut Turmeric Mylk Latte

Makes 2, 8oz cups

Ingredients

8oz homemade unsweetened almond milk
8oz coconut water  - we recommend fresh or Harmless Harvest brand
1.5 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1 pinch Himalayan salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbs gently melted Dastony whole coconut butter
1/2 to 1 tsp raw honey - optional- the coconut water gives it a nice mellow sweetness

Instructions

Gently melt your Dastony coconut butter until liquid. Blend all ingredients together and heat over low heat on the stove top until it reaches your desired temperature. To keep this 100% raw, simply heat until its warm to the touch but not hot.

Garnish with a dash of extra turmeric, or pumpkin pie spice.
